Our Story
Hi there! Welcome to the Rotherwood of Kentucky! We are Aaron and Holly Kuster, the owners of the Rotherwood. We aquired the property in late 2021, and hit the ground running knowing we had a vision to put this property on the map to represent family, friends, and times of joy. We were inspired by the people we met on our many travels abroad and at home. As newlyweds on our honeymoon night we stayed in a bed and breakfast which sparked our interest for future hosting. While living in Germany, we befriended owners who ran a bed and breakfast above their restaurant, and since then we knew in our hearts we wanted to start up a bed and breakfast along with a venue.
In 2023, we were approved by the city and state for a variance to use the property for a venue under Agri-tourism. Since then we have worked tirelessly to clean up the neglected areas of the land, restore destroyed features of the home, build a barn to compliment the house, and add additional infrastructure to support the venue. There is still so much work to do, and we will continue to restore and preserve the Rotherwood as a historical site of heritage in Winchester, KY. As owners of the Rotherwood Aaron is responsible for building, and maintaining the property and I run the hospitality side by meeting the newly engaged couples, giving tours, and coordinating with vendors and brides-to-be. Together we compliment each other as a team. Our goals are for others to enjoy this space as a sight of heritage and a place for memories to last a life time.
Fast forward seventeen years later, we found ourselves looking for the perfect house to be that bed and breakfast and future venue. After two years of looking online we found a house across country with the ugliest blue roof we had ever seen. It wasn't until inspection day we knew it was "the house". After we purchased the house the first thing we did was rip the roof off, and found that the beautiful slate roof was mostly destroyed. We salvaged what we could and restored the rest, bringing the Rotherwood closer to what glory once was. However, after much thought we decided that an event venue was more fitting for the Rotherwood property where we could share the amazing views and had room to move freely.
